Roots

from a young farmer’s son to an Olympic rider

Dirk Demeersman, born in Sint-Truiden and raised in Landen. That was the start of a success-story from a farmer’s son to a topper in the equestrian sport.

Dirk is very passionate about horses and he aims high!

Giving up is not in Dirk’s dictionary When Demeersman sees potential in a horse, he makes sure that the full potential will be achieved/utilized.

Dirk also analyses the videos after trainings and shows He analyses those images several times. They say, “Passion squared”.

One year later he put his focus mainly on working with young horses. Until the age of 20, he trained them until they competed at the 1.45m level.

— professional

His international career started when he was halfway his twenties. Like that he was selected for the Olympic Games for the first time in Barcelona in ’92. After these Games he participated twice more, in Athens 2004 and London 2012. In Athens, Dirk achieved his best rating with a 4th place with Clinton. Besides his participations at the Games, he achieved other great performances at other big shows.
