ABOUT US

Passion for the equestrian sport

Cavallini BV, the name already shows the connection with the equestrian world. It is a family business of Olympic rider Dirk Demeersman, his wife Kelly Pieck and daughter Louise Demeersman. Both Dirk and Kelly have been passionate about horses since they were little, with their professional knowledge and the succession (daughter Louise) there is everything to find what’s needed at Cavallini!

How it all started

Cavallini was an existing company that we took over in 2005. The acquisition came with the purpose to start our own breeding and the guiding and competing with our own horses.

The idea of a breeding farm came from the purchase of Platina van de Cumul, a mare that Dirk performed with at international top-level. Platina would finish her career first before we would really start breeding her. In 2004 she jumped her last show and one year later we bred her for the first time Her last foal was an Emerald foal that was born in 2012, named Matador. As a 4-year-old he was sold to Harry Bruynseels, to later be used in the sport by Niels Bruynseels. At this moment Matador and Niels jump 1.60m classes together and they regularly participate in the Logines Global Champions Tour.

Later on, there also came Daimonds Billy, she was mainly used for the sport. As a 6- and 7-year-old she was in the final of the WC young horses in Lanaken 2 years in a row. Later, her career grew to the 1.60m level. During her sports-career we bred with her a few times by using embryo flushing. Since the year 2014, Daimonds Billy is only used for breeding. In 2016, Cote d’Or Z was born, a Carambole colt out of Daimonds Billy. In 2020 he got approved by studbook BWP.

In 2019 we sold Cote d’Or his half-brother, Jewel ASK Z, to Stutteri Ask in Denmark, there he got approved for the Danish studbook. Today they’re both successful breeding stallions. At the end of 2020 we bought Quintino Royal Z at the online auction by Jumping Mechelen, in 2021 he got approved by studbook Zangersheide. In 2021 we built a new stable and included a breeding station, so that our stallions can now stay home during the breeding season. Since 2022 we have our breeding station in use and our stallions can now keep working during the breeding season.

Passion for the equestrian sport

Everything started for us with the equestrian sport itself. Dirk who had been riding since he was little and Kelly who’d also rather do nothing else than spend time with her ponies. After a couple of years of only being busy with the sport, we decided to also breed a foal. That was rather to see what it would give, but the breeding grew to a hobby and something we are known for. When we had our first approved stallion, we immediately knew that we also wanted to start a stud farm.

Our family is a real horse family, Dirk and Kelly have already been passionate by horses since they were children. Dirk has a whole career behind him, and Kelly used to ride horses herself, but in her case, it was more of a hobby. After that hobby she started focusing herself on the breeding, which she still has in her hands to this day. She spends her time with the foals and the young horses, and she now sees this as her hobby. Dirk is still active in the sport. Daughter Louise shares the passion of her parents, like that she now rides Little-Billy, a self-bred mare that Dirk rode until she was 9.
